Ston is a must if you like oysters, wine and history. Famous for its salt pans, Ston provided much of the wealth that protected Dubrovnik over the centuries. The walls protecting this city are quite impressive as well boasting 5km in preserved fortification second only to the great wall of China. When I was planning my visit, I found a wine tour that not only included Ston, but took you to Trebinje, Bosnia-Herzegovina as well. The tour started with a boat ride and oysters freshly plucked out of the sea all while sipping on a tasty Croatian white wine. Pretty incredible start to a tour if you ask me. Next up we crossed the border and made our way to the Tvrdoš Monastery followed by the Anđelić winery. Both of which were very educational and enjoyable. The day culminated at a local Bosnian restaurant with a traditional dish  called "meat under the bell." I had been trying to get this dish for several days, but it was never available, so as you can imagine, I was very happy with this surprise. I highly recommend taking a tour like this.
