Enlightened Adventures

Italy
Everyone dreams of going to Italy and for good reason. The history, culture, food and wine all have an allure to tempt most travelers. Rome and Venice are beautiful, but there is much more to this amazing country. My favorite parts are the less traveled and more remote areas. The Dolomites are a majestic mountain range not often though of when you mention Italy. Tuscany, Friuli and the Gulf of Trieste are fine destinations as well and worthy to be explored.
Gulf of Trieste
This captivating area is a small paradise without the crowds. Small towns like Duino, Miramare and Mugggia have all the allures of the more famous places with a much more relaxed vibe. Visit Maximillian's castle, go sailing, relax at the beach, you will love this area.
The Dolomites
The dolomites are on of the most visually impressive mountain ranges I have had the privilege to hike. The scenery is beyond stunning and had me tripping over my own feet because I refused to look down. The range is also accessible by car if hiking is not your thing. Check out the Alta Via 1 here for information on this amazing hike.
Tuscany
Perhaps the most relaxing place I have ever been. As a lover of wine, Tuscany was always a dream for me to visit. I spent a week relaxing in a hilltop villa overlooking the vastness of the surrounding valley. The days were full of winetasting and eating delicious food, definitely my kind of place.
Rome
Seeing Rome, going to Vatican city, the Coliseum all items on my bucket list checked off. I enjoyed my time there and seeing the sights was even more impressive that I thought it would be.
Venice
Venice is still a marvel to me. The way the city was built just doesn't seem possible, but there it is. For me 2 days was plenty. As impressive as it is, there are way to many other people being impressed.
