Enlightened Adventures

Portugal
Portugal is one of my favorite places that I have visited. The country has so much to offer. From its golden sand beaches to its vibrant cities and world class food and wine, there is something for everyone. Portugal has the freshest and best seafood of anywhere I have traveled. In addition to the food, there is a rich cultural history that presents itself as you make your way through the country.
Algarve
The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal spanning from the Spanish border all the way to the western coast. Its beaches are beautiful and so are the people. There are many cool towns, but Sagres is a standout for me with its low key surf vibe and great restaurants. Faro is also an amazing spot and a great place to travel to or from with its international airport.
Alentejo
I can only speak for the coastal portion of the Alentejo, but let me tell you, it is beautiful. Secluded beaches, small fishing villages and again, amazing food. I walked through this region hiking the Fisherman's Trail and had an incredible experience.
Porto
Porto is a fun, fun city. History presents itself everywhere you look and there is no shortage of delicious food and wine. Be sure to visit some of the Port houses and understand why it can only come from Portugal.
Douro Valley
The Douro Valley is a must see if you are a lover of wine. The wine tours offered include transportation from Porto, lunch, a river cruise and a lot of wine. I highly recommend booking one if you are visiting Porto.
Lisboa
Lisboa is vibrant and exciting city. Beautiful architecture, great food and a light vibe makes this a place of choice for me. The subway is extremely convenient allowing you to easily see the city in a day.
